What did you call these again??

"Daddy does everyone have these things you call hands?? And the things attached to them...those are fingers? They are so neat! Do I get to keep them?"

The siding saga and other exciting events

Yes folks, we have new windows! I must say they are quite nice, although I don't think we realized how much work we had cut out for us. All the casings around the old windows had to come out...so Kris and my dad worked their buns off tearing out, while the window guys followed behind them installing the new. Kris did a fantastic job trimming out the inside. I will have to post some pictures when they are all painted. Wednesday is the official siding start date. Here is the new front window....oooohhhh...aaaahhhhh...!!

I had a jump lesson this week...Riki was full of herself - it was a great time! We're gearing up for a competition in 2 weeks. She doesn't know she isn't on vacation anymore! Time to wake up and smell the hay sister!

Lilja is sooo fascinated with her hands right now. It is just too cute. If only life were as simple as that. She also sits up like a big person...

...for about a minute...still a little top heavy! We took our first trip out in the jogger and Lilja really enjoyed herself. But hey, what's not to like about being chauffeured around?? Rollie wasn't nearly as compliant...I got twice the workout because he was not really all that interested in running (sniffing stuff is WAY more fun) so I ended up pulling him and pushing her. I'll be back in shape in no time!

"Dude, what's the deal with your ears? They stand straight up...are they supposed to do that? Maybe you should see someone about those..."

Caution: Men at work

Yes, we have demolition started at the Bjarnason household. At least this time I'm not 7 months pregnant and without a bathroom! We are getting new windows and siding - woo hoo! But before that, Kris is tearing off the old (with the help of my dad and Brian). Our driveway looks like a recycling center with the HUGE dumpster in it. If you have anything to toss...just come on by...Kris will never notice.

Meanwhile, inside the house you can probably guess what Rollie was doing. Did I mention he is slightly spoiled?? Does this make us bad parents????

Lilja is almost 14 weeks already - where does the time go? She gets cuter and cuter each day (like I'd say otherwise!). Within the last month she has discovered her hands and loves to look at them and suck on them, she smiles a lot, and as a true Woodworth, she has found her voice and uses it often - lots of coos and babble. She still sleeps through the night and is a good napper. I don't know how we got so lucky, but I won't question it. But I am slightly concerned we will pay for it down the road! No no no...good thoughts Sarah....only good thoughts!

We tried out the new BOB (jogger stroller that Grandpa Woodworth bought us) the other day. She isn't quite big enough for it yet - looks like she is going parachuting with all the harnesses and straps.

More to come...stay tuned!

Quiet time in the Bjarnason household

I'm starting to enjoy Monday mornings...

Ahh....isn't she sweet??? Can you believe she is 12 weeks???

Chevy (a current boarder at our house) napping out on the deck. I think he's working on his tan.

Looks like Rollie is working on being as small as possible on the couch so I don't see him up there. He isn't the least bit spoiled...no really...he isn't!

Look who's up....but it was a nice long nap. Gotta run.

Murphy's Law

projectile vom·it·ing
Pronunciation: -'vä-m&-ti[ng]
Function: noun
: vomiting that is sudden and so sufficiently vigorous that the vomitus is forcefully projected to a distance

I discovered the meaning of this firsthand Sunday night at Grandma & Grandpa Woodworths. I was just telling my mom that Lilja doesn't spit up much. She decided to prove me wrong and show me she can not only spit up...but milk can come shooting out of her mouth and all over the bed, her clothes and some even wound up in her ear.

Lesson learned...never say never....!

ROAD TRIP!

4 adults (Grandma and Grandpa Woodworth, Kris and I) , 2 puppies (Kona and Rollie), 1 baby, several Motel 6's and 3.5 days later, we arrived in Webb Lake, WI to visit Amma and Afi (that is grandma and grandpa in Icelandic) Bjarnason, great-grandma Katherine, and Auntie Brynja. The drive went surprisingly well...my only complaint (not sure if Kris will agree it was my ONLY one) was that Rollie had more room than I did. It's a dog's life!

Anyways...we had a great time and the weather cooperated quite nicely. Kris and dad fished a bunch (the one that got away was THIS big...really...no camera to prove it), we floated in the lake, swam a bit, and ate a lot. Kona loved the lake, she is a Chessie, and Rollie wasn't really sure about the water. He is still a doberboy...not a real doberman like his uncle Bud.

Uncle Bud and Rollie...

The one that didn't get away....

wait...whose is bigger...???

The fam in the water....where's Rollie???

Oh...here's Rollie...wouldn't want to get his feet wet...

The boys (Randy, Gary and Kris) helped David clean up some downed trees from one of the winter storms...can't keep Kris away from a chain saw if there is a tree that needs sawin'!

Here we all are!

We were blessed to see the loon family (the baby was born while we were there) on the lake. Here is mama and baby loon!

One of my favorite pictures...Kona walking on water!

Afi (remember that is grandpa in Icelandic) must be telling Lilja all about her daddy when he was a little boy...by the look on her face it must be a good story!

More WI stories to come!

Bittersweet

Well, we made the transition. Lilja has now slept in her own bed (bassinet in our room) 2 nights in a row. Both nights she woke up only once, just to let us know she was still there.

Next she'll be walking and then off to college...wonder if I can prolong newborn-hood by keeping her in bed with us. :)
